A New Type of Performance
You sign up and express what you would like to try*. With the help of Alex, our artistic director, you will form a team with other participants to build a 15-to-20 minute long performance. You can also sign up as a group. ETU will provide you with a spot at their performance in a theatre, a small budget, a set time and place to rehearse and guidance from Alex on how to put together a successful play, express your creativity in your own way, and work together in a production team. The rest will be up to you and your group!
Who are we looking for?
You can indicate a preference for one of more roles like:
Director: The creative who oversees the production, guiding the cast and crew to bring the story to life.
Producer: The organizer and financier who manages the budget, schedules, and logistics to ensure the production runs smoothly.
Writer: The storyteller who crafts the script, creating the dialogue, plot, and characters that form the foundation of the production.
Actor: The performer who brings characters to life on stage or screen through voice, movement, and emotion.
Musician: The artist who creates or performs music, either live or pre-recorded.
Stage Manager: The backstage sergeant who coordinates all aspects of putting the show o stage during rehearsals and performances, ensuring everything runs seamlessly.
Tech/Lighting/Sound Wiz: The technical expert who designs and operates lighting, sound, and other effects to enhance the audience's experience.
Crew Member (Props, Set, Costumes, etc.): The behind-the-scenes crew that handles the design, creation, and placement of sets, props, and costumes to build the world of the production.
Call for auditions
Our auditions will take place in Utrecht on:
Thursday, 12th of September 2024 - 19:00 - 22:00 (FULL)

Friday, 13th of September
2024 - 19:00 - 22:00 (NEW)
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will be on Thursday evenings from 19:00 - 22:00. The first rehearsal will be on the 26th of September. We will organise a rehearsal weekend, which will be off-site but close to Utrecht.
We’ll be performing Guards! Guards! on 14 and 15 February 2025 in Utrecht, and on 1 and 2 March in Amsterdam.
Some important notes:
This is an amateur production, and actors will be asked to pay a participation fee of €220**. All money will be used for our productions. A reduced €120 participation fee is available if your financial situation would make participation difficult.
The sign-up sheet contains an availability check. Please fill this in very carefully. If you get cast and agree to participate, we will expect you to attend on all of the dates you indicated you could be there, excepting sickness and emergencies. Any unplanned absences need to be closely communicated in order to protect the quality of the rehearsals.
Registration for the auditions will close on Sunday 8 September.
Once you are registered, you will receive a confirmation. Approximately a week before your audition, you’ll receive the address of the location, some additional information and materials to prepare for the audition. You will not be required to memorise any texts.
