I’m Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire

As a young girl Astrid alway hated wearing dresses. So the day she gladly walked to school in a wedding dress to play princess Maxima in the school version of the 2002 Dutch Royal Wedding, her mum knew she belonged in the theatre.

Astrid joined the ETU community in late 2025 as the producer and later assistent director for 'Hedda Gabler'. Her biggest passion project is her Comedy Collective Pivot where she is part of the musical improv group 'Mediocre Joy', the D&D inspired improv show 'Side Quest' and many more shows.

The thing that drew Astrid to this production was the insane funny script and the opportunity to truly perform who she really in her core is. A 14 year old girly that knows she's ✨special✨

Tobey Maguire

Howdy, I'm Desmond Francis™! But people just call me Francis. I like it.

My background is in theater, film, voice acting, and improvisation. My stage credits include Guards! Guards!, CrOak!, and Off Grid with English Theatre Utrecht, alongside storytelling performances across the Netherlands, collaborating with musicians and dance companies as part of larger theatrical productions. My voice acting work spans similar projects, podcasts, and video games. I've also appeared in various independent films and short films, with several larger projects currently in the works.

I love the absurd, surrealism, horror, and the incredibly uncanny. But I'm equally drawn to authenticity, deep dives into character, and challenging roles that demand difficult emotions and complicated journeys.

After reading just a single paragraph about IGMYTM, I knew I HAD to be part of it. Naturally, this meant signing up with absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. But something immediately clicked. I felt like I understood the assignment. Or, at the very least, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of.

Actor 3

Miriam’s first involvement with ETU started when she joined the Improv Group in 2022. There she found a wonderful community that inspired her to pick up acting again. She was in two ensemble plays and switched to producing when she rediscovered her love for bossing people around.

Miriam has produced three plays for ETU. While she can be a drill sergeant on show days, she loves connecting with the hardworking and talented crew that ETU brings together.

As a brand-new member of the Tobey Maguire Fan Club, Miriam is excited to get back to acting and be a menace to the production teambring all the different characters to life.

In her non-theatre life, Miriam juggles her job for the Euthanasia Review Committee with her side hustle as a Theme Park Consultant. None of this is a joke.

Director

In Primary school her theatre teacher called her a “serial improviser” she took this backhanded compliment and turned it into a career in improv.

You may have seen her onstage in “Heathers” or “Spring Awakening” but she decided to turn her attention to directing for the first time when a clip of Tobey Maguire popped up on her FYP and she knew that she had to bring this gem to The Netherlands.

Ramona has been involved in ETU since 2023 as an actor as well as a marketeer and videographer: She is excited to continue the streak of amazing plays that ETU produces.

Producer

Al has had a passion for theater since she was a kid, although always as an observer. Their interest finally materialized into something real when she discovered the Improv scene in Amsterdam and fell in love with the people just as much as the theater.

After spending 10 years working in corporate she has decided to move on and spend more time in the community. Combining a passion for theater, logistics, and coordination these days Al is dedicating her time to production.

She couldn’t resist getting involved in Tobey Maguire, because with great production comes great responsibility.

Stage Manager

Dependable, responsible, highly remarkable.

Ever since volunteering for her first show, Guards! Guards!, she’s been hooked on life behind the scenes. She has since honed her stage management skills on productions of Cyrano de Bergerac and Hedda Gabler, joined the board of English Theatre Utrecht, and is now diving back into the new production I'm Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire.

Armed with a passion for community building and a talent for filling in whatever gaps pop up, she’s more than ready for the next opening night.

Set Designer

Maria accidentally stumbled into theatre after being invited by some actor friends. Now, just two years later she has been responsible for sets and the occasional prop of three different shows.

Over the years Maria has acquired many creative skills, and theatre allows her to put them all together to create a whole new world. She is very excited to fully jump into the nostalgia and bring to life the room she would have dreamed of in 2004.

Social Media

I’m Artem, and I’m part of ETU’s social media team, working alongside the marketing genius that is Ramona.

I’ve also been lucky enough to deepen my love for acting by being cast in a couple of previous ETU shows, experiences I’m incredibly proud of and grateful for.

I enjoy bringing fresh ideas, creating cool and pretty visuals, and helping ETU’s presence online feel as alive as the community itself. Most importantly, I love having fun with the people around me while constantly learning, experimenting, and perfecting the craft.

Lighting Designer

Fresh out of directing Hedda Gabler for English Theatre Utrecht, Jasper is a self-confessed science and theatre nerd. Jasper will be designing the lighting for I'm Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire. The entire play takes place in a dank cellar / teenage girl's bedroom, and it's screaming for interesting, dramatic light.
